Singer / Songwriter Kylie Hinze

Now to one of my more interesting photo subjects, meet Kylie Hinze, the 15 year old singing/songwriting phenom from Greenville, SC. I met Kylie and her family over a year ago and knew right away from her bubbling personality, drive, and natural talent, that she would have a successful career in doing what she loves. At that time I did a behind-the-scenes photos while Kylie was doing a music video. However this time together we did a dedicated photoshoot at the beautiful and historic Lofts of Greenville.

Featured: Advanced Photoshop #98

Whenever Advanced Photoshop magazine comes knocking on my email box, I never hesitate to adhere to their requests. Even though the mag costs $15 USD an issue, I regard it as one of the best cutting edge Photoshop resources out there. This time I was requested to submit a tutorial on matching lighting throughout a composited image. After digging through my past work, I decided my image of Roxie in the desert was a good fit. The final image contains 6 individual elements combined together to make a unified composition. Click to read the .pdf of the feature here.

Atlanta to Daytona: Harley-Davidson

What an adventure. Nearly 1000 miles, 2000+ pictures, and 100+ drinks later I checked off one of my more memorable photography assignments. Did I mention I love my job? This is practically part 2 of my previous blog post, but this time I get to follow the guys down to Daytona Beach, FL for Bike Week. This was a big project involving RIDES Magazine and Harley-Davidson. For 3 days and 2 nights we followed around 8 Atlanta Harley-Davidson riders, and documented their experience during Daytona Bike Week. The most nerve-racking thing was piloting a big GMC Acadia SUV through Daytona Beach with literally 1000’s of rough looking bikers… I did NOT want to piss them off. I’m a skinny wanna-be pro cyclist that hasn’t done any (real) prison time, so I’m kind of lacking in the bad-ass department. BIG thanks to Andrew Link, Michael Crenshaw, and the rest of the RIDES Magazine crew for the opportunity.

Atlanta Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Iron Elite

A friend at RIDES Magazine hit me up and asked if I was interested in shooting a Harley-Davidson motorcycle club from Atlanta, GA. Going into the shoot, I had no idea what was going to happen. All I knew is I had to sneak in as many pictures as I could behind the video crew’s back for two days, so RIDES and Harley-Davidson will have plenty of options for their Iron Elite series.

Featured: Excellence Magazine 935

Through a series of fortunate events, I have now climbed to a position of contributing to Excellence magazine, the most widely read independent Porsche magazine in the world. Very excited to say the least. There’s something that makes me tingle when I see my pictures printed in a nice magazine in a well designed layout (thanks John). Let’s also not forget Paul Krasusky who provided the words, very entertaining read… I suddenly have the urge to wear a fancy pinstrip suit with Piloti shoes and Cartier sunglasses.

My Scott CR1 Elite

Welcome to my obsession. I’ve been cycling off and on for close to 4yrs, and this year I’ve started taking the sport a little more seriously… which means I need a more serious bike! I wanted a bike that was a good all-around trainer and racer, that weighed as much as a feather. After browsing around the many bike shops in Greenville, SC, I found this Scott CR1 Elite at Ride On Bicycles. Light, agile, comfortable (haha), sexxxy! Since then I’ve dropped the stem, picked up a SRAM RED black crank, and fitted 50mm Boyd carbon clincher wheels. At least I’ll look fast.

WMB 3D Issue #2, Further Designed

A first handshake can sometimes be awkward.. Too limp, too strong, missing completely, or bumping a fist to an open handshake? But the second time around, BAM! you got it right on the money. That’s how I feel about the second issue of WMB 3D. Not to downplay the 1st issue, the success was more than we could have expected. But personally I knew that the initial magazine was a foundation and wanted to build upon that foundation with less attention to continuity, and more attention to branching out… not to mention the learning curve of designing in 3D was beginning to flatten.
