Ollie by Sphero – Product Shoot

Oh hi again, it’s Ollie the app-controlled robot. You may remember him from the Ollie Social Takeover that was taken soley with an iPhone… this time, Ollie gets some love from a proper camera. Sphero, the company that makes Ollie, may sound familiar if you’re a Star Wars fan, for they are the same brains behind the remarkable (and adorable) BB-8 droid. Yep, that droid. You can say Ollie is BB-8’s vivacious speedy older brother. Seeing this little thing bolt to 14mph is surreal, and then it can pop into hundreds of trick combos… A seriously cool robot that only makes me more proud to be behind the camera for this revolutionary company.

Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 4×4 Retouching

To supplement the campaign I shot for Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Canada, I was also called upon to piece together images for the newer unreleased 4×4 model… Welcome to the treasure trove of before/after Photoshop work. I found a handy-dandy plugin to easily compare before/after, which was present in a few of my previous blog posts, but this time I went a little overboard. Do you mind???? I didn’t think so.

OhYeah! Moment Photoshoot

From the dirt roads of North Carolina and Kentucky, to an air-conditioned gym with lots-o-lights. I got the green light from OhYeah! Nutrition to shoot their upcoming campaign featuring “weekend warriors” having an OhYeah! Moment. To say these athletes are weekend warriors is a bit misleading, considering they can all probably beat me in arm wrestling with their pinky finger.

Jeff Gordon & Kasey Kahne: Go-Kart Challenge Photoshoot BTS

Pepsi has been on a roll with their advertising lately, and again I’m excited to be a part of their latest project with NASCAR drivers Jeff Gordon and Kasey Kahne… and whew, what an action-packed day!! My main job was to grab on-location studio shots of Jeff and Kasey, but I would also be running and gunning around the GoPro Motorplex afterwards for action shots. So, I had to quickly switch my brain from studio, to journalism.

Handmade 2014 Promo Mailer

Nearly 4 years have passed since my previous mailer. And let me tell you, a LOT has happened since then. My photography has matured, received more work, and made connections with bigger clients such as Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Pepsi, KFC, Porsche, STA-BIL, Harley-Davidson, etc. And now, I felt the time has come to accumulate my latest work and show it off… but if you know me, I don’t do simple.

What’s in your bag?

Why hello there. Nice shirt. What?? You would you like to get to know me better??? Maybe, take a peek inside my bag and see what I use?!? Well don’t you have a dirty mind!! But you did ask nicely… ziiiiiiiiiip

I don’t think I’ve displayed my photo equipment before, mainly because I don’t take much stock in the gear making the photographer. I believe that an aspiring mind is more important than any piece of camera equipment you can possibly own, because an aspiring mind will not ask questions like “how can I get that shot” or “how are you so successful” at a seminar; instead, he/she will already have the mindset that they CAN do it. In my experience, an eager mind coupled with setting goals will be able to purchase any camera gear in given time.

Featured: Advanced Photoshop #98

Whenever Advanced Photoshop magazine comes knocking on my email box, I never hesitate to adhere to their requests. Even though the mag costs $15 USD an issue, I regard it as one of the best cutting edge Photoshop resources out there. This time I was requested to submit a tutorial on matching lighting throughout a composited image. After digging through my past work, I decided my image of Roxie in the desert was a good fit. The final image contains 6 individual elements combined together to make a unified composition. Click to read the .pdf of the feature here.
