One night in Vegas with two Chevy Camaros

Fly out to Las Vegas, be picked up by the kind people at Chevrolet Performance (Justin Cesler, James Thornton), drive directly to Spring Mountain Motor Resort, shoot a brand new black 455-hp SS at sunset, coma-inducing hibachi dinner, beer, nap, wake up at 5am to shoot a white RS at sunrise, then be transported back to the airport… This is the kind of unique assignments I live for. Wham, bam, thank ya ma’am, all shot within a sunset and sunrise with two Chevy Camaros. Sorry if you were expecting a Zach Galifianakis type story! This was (mostly) business.

Two weeks in Canada with Mercedes-Benz Vans

Hellooooo again Canada, you frigid, beastly, beautiful domain of friendly folks. Once again, I’m shooting for Mercedes-Benz Vans Canada, except this time we’re hitting Ontario, Quebec, and Alberta within 2 weeks… during winter. Never have I felt such cold (thanks Quebec City), but then again I’ve lived in South Carolina and California for most of my candyass life.

2016 IndyCar Teams = Fastest cars I’ve shot

“What’s the fastest car you’ve photographed?” is a phrase I hear a lot given my profession. Well here you go everybody, a plethora of top-tier IndyCars. “Fastest car” can be taken in many different ways, such as 0-60mph, 1/4 mile, mountain roads, dirt roads, ovals, street circuits and (my favorite) road circuits to name a few. Some cars are set up for 1/4 mile, some are set up for going only left around an oval… you get the point. The unique thing about IndyCar is they race on high speed ovals, street circuits, AND road circuits… making it one of the more diverse racing series in the world. Races like the famous Indy 500 are insane. The 30+ cars racing inches away from each other reach speeds up to 230mph around a 2.5 mile oval, drawing the world’s largest 1-day crowd of 400,000. Four. Hundred. Thousand. PEOPLE.

Ollie by Sphero – Product Shoot

Oh hi again, it’s Ollie the app-controlled robot. You may remember him from the Ollie Social Takeover that was taken soley with an iPhone… this time, Ollie gets some love from a proper camera. Sphero, the company that makes Ollie, may sound familiar if you’re a Star Wars fan, for they are the same brains behind the remarkable (and adorable) BB-8 droid. Yep, that droid. You can say Ollie is BB-8’s vivacious speedy older brother. Seeing this little thing bolt to 14mph is surreal, and then it can pop into hundreds of trick combos… A seriously cool robot that only makes me more proud to be behind the camera for this revolutionary company.

Proterra Electric Bus

Congratulations, Proterra, you are officially the biggest vehicle I’ve had in front of my camera! I’ve had some pretty wild machines that climb mountains with fury, sophisticated yet rugged vans, priceless pieces of metal, and winner’s circle racers… but this one takes the cake for sheer size. Oh wait, this huge bus gets 600 miles per charge?!?.. which translates to 350 miles of continuous real world bus driving transporting actual people?!?.. which basically means city streets are about to be humming with these clean and quiet machines.

Amelia Island Winning 1967 Porsche 911S

Good ‘ol editorial work. I’ve said before that commercial/advertising work makes me tall, and editorial/lifestyle photography keeps me sharp. This assignment for the Porsche Club of America is the epitome of going back to my roots and using just a camera with natural light. I love shooting for the PCA because the only instructions I get from them are “here’s the owner’s number of the Porsche 911S, now go take great pics”. But this assignment was exceptionally special.

BMW M1: A legend of the 80’s

Over the past few years I’ve had the pleasure to shoot for prestigious automotive auctioneers such as RM Auctions, and Bonhams (thanks to my talented motorsport photographer friend Jamey Price). They specialize in fine automobiles, with cars rarely dropping below the $100,000 mark. At that point, it’s a bit insulting to call them just cars. Rather, I prefer the term “art.” Yes, I’m adding some cheese to this blog post.

Leh Keen’s Safari 911

Introducing Leh Keen‘s brainchild Safari 911. Young professional race driver Leh is needing less and less of an introduction over the years. So much that he has his own Wikipedia page. Usually the first thing that comes to mind when trying to evoke how incredible Leh is at his craft, I point to the video Rain Dance… After watching that, I realized why top racecar drivers get paid the big bucks.

Hisense NASCAR Photoshoot

Hisense, the leading TV brand in China, and No. 4 seller of TVs worldwide, are targeting early adopters in the U.S. as it seeks to become No. 3 globally in the near future. NASCAR, one of the most beloved and iconic sports in the U.S., became a primary target to spread the brand name. With acclaimed racecar driver Denny Hamlin behind the wheel, the #20 Hisense car took 1st place in their inaugural race… this whole driver-winning-after-photoshoot trend can no longer be deemed a coincidence.
