Hisense NASCAR Photoshoot

Hisense, the leading TV brand in China, and No. 4 seller of TVs worldwide, are targeting early adopters in the U.S. as it seeks to become No. 3 globally in the near future. NASCAR, one of the most beloved and iconic sports in the U.S., became a primary target to spread the brand name. With acclaimed racecar driver Denny Hamlin behind the wheel, the #20 Hisense car took 1st place in their inaugural race… this whole driver-winning-after-photoshoot trend can no longer be deemed a coincidence.

Panorama: OEM Plus 2012 Porsche 911

Shooting for the Porsche Club of America is always a breath of fresh air. Usually the shoot involves natural lighting, with little to no frills. I see it as planned journalism, with minimal attention to artificial light. The same goes for editing. Even though the editing looks extensive in the below before/after images, it’s basically adjusting color temperature and pumping natural colors.

OhYeah! Moment Photoshoot

From the dirt roads of North Carolina and Kentucky, to an air-conditioned gym with lots-o-lights. I got the green light from OhYeah! Nutrition to shoot their upcoming campaign featuring “weekend warriors” having an OhYeah! Moment. To say these athletes are weekend warriors is a bit misleading, considering they can all probably beat me in arm wrestling with their pinky finger.

Jeff Gordon & Kasey Kahne: Go-Kart Challenge Photoshoot BTS

Pepsi has been on a roll with their advertising lately, and again I’m excited to be a part of their latest project with NASCAR drivers Jeff Gordon and Kasey Kahne… and whew, what an action-packed day!! My main job was to grab on-location studio shots of Jeff and Kasey, but I would also be running and gunning around the GoPro Motorplex afterwards for action shots. So, I had to quickly switch my brain from studio, to journalism.

Pepsi Max 2014 NASCAR Shoot

I love shooting cars, and I LOVE shooting people… So combine the 2 with a 900hp racecar and a *slightly* well-known multi-championship NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon, and you have a very happy Clint. Pepsi has been on fire recently with their brilliant Disguise campaign… Basically dressing up famous athletes as regulars and surprising the unlucky victims. Uncle Drew and Test Drive 2 went viral instantly, for good reason!

BMW M6 shot with a Phase One IQ160

“Do you shoot Canon or Nikon” is usually the first question I get after I tell someone I’m a photographer. I’ve been holding a Canon since I was 14. The main reason is because my dad had some old Canon lenses that (I thought) looked expensive, that’s it. Canon, Nikon, Sony, Pentex, whatever the camera, if you rely on the camera to do all your work you’re gonna have a bad day. They are all very nice and capable cameras. Granted I’d rather work with a camera made in 2013 compared to 2003, but still when images are compared side by side it’s arguably tough to tell what image was taken with a Canon, Nikon, etc. This is why the phrase “Wow! Your camera takes nice photos” makes photographers cringe. Case in point, here’s a video of Douglas Sonders rocking a cheap camera.

Hamann BMW X6

Introducing one of the most confused cars on the planet. Car?… or is it a truck? No, an SUV for sure… but it can hardly go off-road (especially with those sweet ADV.1 wheels). Whatever the DMV calls it, I wouldn’t mind wheelin’ this one around on the weekend. This is a BMW X6 tuned by the fine performance shop GMP in Charlotte, NC. The same fellas that got a hold of the Bentley in the previous blog post. Again a real treat to shoot one of the cars from their stable.
