Not too often I get a legend in front of my camera. I’ve had the pleasure of shooting Rahsaan Bahati (The most accomplished black cyclist), Coach Dean Jones (Personal baseball coach and local hero), and Derrick Rose (NBA MVP). This time I got to shoot a legend made of metal, glass, rubber, mixed with a lot of blood sweat and tears.
The car is a super rare Porsche 924 GTR… easily the most….. wait, what am I saying? Go buy the magazine yourself and find out! However I will say that this Porsche won it’s 24 hours of Le Mans class in 1982 on 5 street tires. Not 5 sets, 5 total STREET tires. A marketing dream come true for BFGoodrich, and an unbelievable story to tell to your grandchildren for anybody associated with the car.
I had the pleasure of not only shooting the legendary race car, but writing the article as well. However this was my first writing submission to Excellence, and the editor had to nip and tuck here and there. A bit of an overwhelming task to write for a magazine that possibly has the most educated Porsche readership in the world! Many many more to come.
