Over the past few years I’ve had the pleasure to shoot for prestigious automotive auctioneers such as RM Auctions, and Bonhams (thanks to my talented motorsport photographer friend Jamey Price). They specialize in fine automobiles, with cars rarely dropping below the $100,000 mark. At that point, it’s a bit insulting to call them just cars. Rather, I prefer the term “art.” Yes, I’m adding some cheese to this blog post.
This particular 1980 BMW M1 was shot for Bonhams, and sold for roughly $600,000. But the price wasn’t what impressed me, it could have cost $20,000 and I would have been in love. I sound like a drunken lush, but this car really hit me when I saw it in person. Maybe it’s because I was born in 1982, but the way this car was designed SINGS to me. It sang to me so much, that instead of simply turning in the required natural photos to Bonhams, I thought I’d do a little massage session in Photoshop and give it the ‘ol Davis touch.
A brief summary from the natural sunset shoot above. For the time being, you can view all pictures and information about the M1 from the official Bonhams auction page.
Now, how about we end this love affair with a little Before/After?
